In real situations, SmartSpray is proving what we saw in our own field tests. Growers are easily saving between 25% and 30% on chemicals. In small trees and replants the savings is even more substantial. Fewer refills also translate into time, labor and fuel savings. The impact on the environment is another big advantage due to putting chemicals directly on target trees, and not in the air, or on the ground between trees. SmartSpray is leading the revolution in how growers manage their spray programs. In simple terms, the SmartSpray system uses waterproof ultrasonic sensors linked to an on-board computer and cab-mounted controller to seek and target trees that need spraying. It's all automatic. The result is hundreds of gallons of chemicals saved. It's more than just a target-based system. SmartSpray reads tree shape and tree size and activates only the nozzles needed for any given tree. SmartSpray is available in a three zone per side configuration for conventional sprayers and a five zone per side configuration for sprayers outfitted with a spray tower or oscillator.

A cab-mounted controller gives the operator valuable up-to-the-second information on spray performance, including exact ground speed to within one-tenth of a mile per hour. It also calculates pertinent information about the sprayer's performance during the day, or for a particular block of trees. SmartSpray gives you (1) total acres sprayed, (2) average acres per hour, (3) average ground speed and (4) percentage of chemicals saved versus conventional spraying. There are other advantages, too. Like push-button on-off controls, which come in handy when making turns at the end of your rows. SmartSpray also has four programmable memory positions which allow the operator to call up tree spacing, desired ground speed and other valuable pre-programmed information which varies from block to block.

SmartSpray can be ordered for any new or existing Durand Wayland sprayer, or as a retro-fit for most competitive sprayers. SmartSpray is the future of spraying. With skyrocketing chemical costs and heightened environmental concerns, growers are being forced to look at new ways to protect their trees. SmartSpray makes a lot of sense, especially when you combine it with a spray tower. It's not only the right thing to do; it's the smart thing to do.
