During Q1, we initiated technology partnership discussions with Ellips B.V.. We were ready to enter the technology fray with an advanced new offering and Ellips’ TrueSort package fit the bill perfectly. So, late Q2, we reached agreement with Ellips leadership, embraced arguably the best grading and sorting technology in the industry and quickly sold our first set of systems to particularly forward thinkers . . . all of these systems were retrofits to existing sizers, a noted Ellips strength. Also, in Q2 and related to the Ellips partnership, we reached agreement with Ellips’ sister company, ELISAM, to represent their product line to our customers and would-be prospects. ELISAM offer a great complementary product line from which our customers will benefit. And, as we sit here at year’s end, we’re very close to placing our first set of ELISAM GranTorinoM sizers in a market segment which is completely new to us. Kudos to all of you that can ‘see’ beyond what’s in your packinghouse today to a more productive, technologically advanced, efficient and labor-leveled environment.
Our recent history saw the necessity to consider our organizational reach leading to a different approach, particularly, in California and adjacent states. As we’re poised and have repositioned ourselves for growth, we hired an industry professional to represent Durand in California, Arizona and Nevada. Our Reedley, CA, team now include sales, installation, mechanical, technical/electronics and parts specialists. In addition to our west coast operation growing, we’re also actively searching for a qualified Sales Engineer to take care of our client base ‘up north.’ If you know anyone that’s interested, please suggest they email a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org . . . only those interested in winning need apply.
Likewise, in our LaGrange, GA, headquarters, we added staff to the growth-focused foundation. We added a sales support team member, a business development person, new procurement professional and another finance team member. Additionally, we’re reinvesting in the business and introducing new machinery and equipment to ‘lean out’ our manufacturing processes. We’ve also been working on the launch of an exciting and eye-popping new website. Since early fall, we’ve been releasing content incrementally and anticipate raising the curtain on the complete experience come January 1, 2015.
Finally, as we close the year, thanks to all of you that have allowed us to help you, our Durand employee partners, supply partners, Board of Directors and leadership team. Without everyone pulling in the same direction and sharing the same vision, 2014, 2015 and the years to come wouldn’t have been or couldn’t be nearly as successful.
Be well and we’ll see you all again in January.
